‘Bakkerij Ons Dagelijks Brood’ is an initiative by the people of Kinderdijk for both the locals and the many visitors from around the world who come to Kinderdijk. Here, the world meets Kinderdijk, and Kinderdijk meets the world.

About ‘Bakkerij Ons Dagelijks Brood’

For over a hundred years, this building (see photo) has housed a bakery. When the last baker (Bakker Stam) had to stop for health reasons in 2021, the last shop in Kinderdijk was a risk of disappearing. Once, there were over 30 shops in Kinderdijk.

The residents of Kinderdijk joint forces and devised a plan to preserve the alst shop of Kinderdijk. 

At the end of 2021, the ‘Ons Dagelijks Brood Foundation’ was established, and in early 2022, a local foundation purchased the property, allowing Kinderdijk’s last shop to stay open. Three weeks after the shop closed, bread was again sold on Molenstraat, with renewed energy in a familiar place and with both new and familiar faces.

More than just a bakery

When you visit the bakery, you feel a sense of togetherness. It’s not just about getting a loaf of bread or a tasty snack; it’s about the connection, chatting with one another, and paying attention to each other. Today, the shop has grown into a true meeting place.
Alongside bread and pasteries, the bakery’s selection includes Dutch cheeses from the local cheesemaker, beer from the local brewery, and delicious traditional Dutch sweets. In short, it’s a little shop where you can taste the warmth and coziness.

Tearoom

The bakery features a cozy tearoom with views of the world-famous windmills of Kinderdijk. Here, you can relax with a cup of coffee or tea and enjoy a delicious pastry.
